Operation Hero and Kids Care Club, are for the children of the Active Duty, and in grades 2nd thru 6th .
Operation Hero is a 10 week session, they meet twice per week, for 2 hours per day. The children learn how to cope with their feelings, emotions, conflict and resolution. The children learn responsibility with pet rocks, participate in aNickelodeon Day and at the end of the session, they bring in a dish and recipe from their ethnic backgrounds and make a cook book.
Kids Care Club is a follow up to Operation Hero, also for children of the Active Duty and in grades 2nd thru 6th . In this program they take everything that they learned in Operation Hero, and start to give back to the Community. They make pillows for the Children’s Cancer Center at Loma Linda Hospital, Easter Baskets for children in Child Protective Services (CPS) and in the May/June time, the children host the Spaghetti Dinner/Silent Auction.
The children are the waiters/waitresses for the evening and all the monies raised during the Silent Suction portion will go back to support and fund the program for the following year.
All applications for Operation hero and Kids Care Club can be found at the Armed Services YMCA Administration Office. We are open Monday thru Friday; from 8:30am to 4:00pm.
